On behalf of the NAACP Greater Waterbury Branch, I would like to thank everyone who attended Saturday's voter education forum at Grace Baptist Church. It was very informatative and motivational. As suggested by mulitple attendees, we will continue to hold these forums as we approach election season. We hope to link with other community organizations in efforts to spread this valuable information. If anyone is a member of another community organization and thinks that their organization would be interested in working with the NAACP on this project please let me know and provide a contact name and number. Also, we would like to express a special thanks to Rev. Green and the Grace Baptist Church official board for allowing us to hold the event.

May 16-20
"Camp Logan" a play by Celeste Bedford-Walker,
"Camp Logan" tells the story of the all-black 24th infantry as it was during the hot summer of 1917 in Houston, Texas. The soldiers, fresh from a hero's send-off in Columbus, New Mexico, were sent to Houston to oversee the construction of a new military camp. The play chronicles events leading to the mutiny of the regiment's Company I, and subsequently an armed confrontation between the soldiers and a group of townsmen that turned into one of the most violent racial conflicts ever in the United States military. The incident, which became known as the "Houston Mutiny," left 18 townspeople and four soliers dead, and led to some of the most sensational press and the largest military courts-martial in U.S. history. for information click here
